Cosmetic Dentistry

There are many aspects of cosmetic dentistry, such as:

• Tooth whitening
• Smile makeovers
• Veneers
• Closing gaps and reshaping teeth
• Cosmetic recontouring of gums and teeth

Tooth whitening is the process of brightening your smile by changing the tooth colour by 6-10 shades brighter.
The best technique to use is the tray system which one applies at night for a period of 2-3 weeks. This produces a long lasting result which usually last for 2-3 years.

A smile makeover is a process that is needed when people have multiple problems, such as: ageing, tooth loss and breakdown, discolouration and gum recession. This is done by modelling and discussions of individual requirements and issues. Whether it is complex or simple, you can trust our well-trained team to produce the results that are designed.

Veneers are very thin layers of ceramic or composite. Veneers are necessary where there are spaces between teeth which need to be closed or where there is tooth wear/erosion/chipping. Some veneers do not require tooth loss or preparation.

Where there has been tooth loss and/or excessive tooth breakdown then either crowns (that is full coverage) or onlays can be placed to restore tooth aesthetics and function. Where there are missing teeth or gaps there are various options, which include: different types of bridges, dentures or implants.

Where there has been tooth drifting, the teeth may become elongated in appearance or twisted. Similar situations can develop with gums. In the case of teeth, they can be reshaped to be more pleasing in appearance. This can be combined with ceramic bonding to enhance both the size and shape of teeth. In the case of gums, reshaping the gum contours are needed when there are different levels, which can be due to tooth drifting or gum recession.
